Neil Critchley was delighted after Blackpool claimed their first win of the 20/21 League One season, with CJ Hamilton scoring twice at Bloomfield Road in a 2-0 win over Swindon Town.
Despite initial frustration, the Seasiders broke the deadlock just before half-time after Hamilton grabbed his first league goal of the season.
The winger then added his second moments into the second half, capping off a deserved three points in front of the returning Bloomfield Road faithful.
Reflecting on the victory, Critchley lavished praise on Hamilton after the winger continued to impress following his arrival from Mansfield Town this summer.
“He’s going to be a handful this season," Critchley said.
“He scored two really good goals, one with his right foot and one with his left. He’s very hard to stop in a 1v1 situation and brings us a different dynamic offensively, so we’re really pleased with his performance.”
The gaffer also praised his side’s application throughout the game, with the Seasiders also keeping a clean sheet to round off an impressive overall display.
“We got better as the game went on, our belief started to grow, and our football started to get better," Critchley said.
“We started to create chances and I thought we were the dominant team for the rest of the game. We were very solid in all areas of the pitch and I couldn’t have asked for anything more from them out there today.”
Critchley also praised the impact of the Blackpool fans throughout, after 1000 fans returned to Bloomfield Road as part of a pilot test event.
“It was quite emotional; it was a special feeling to have the supporters back in the ground.
“People want to come and support their team and have a release on a Saturday afternoon. I think it was really important to share that with them. They got right behind the team and I’m really delighted that they’ve seen a good performance and can go home happy tonight.”
