Neil Critchley was delighted to see his side secure another three points in the comfortable 4-1 win over Gillingham on Easter Monday.
The Seasiders made it 16 home matches without defeat in the victory, with goals from Sullay Kaikai, Elliot Embleton and a brace from Jerry Yates securing the win.
“It’s a really satisfying win, given how we played against strong opponents,” Critchley said.
“Gillingham are a team bang in form, so to score four goals like we did is a great effort. We made a fantastic start to the game, and although it was disappointing to concede the equaliser, I thought our response to that was brilliant.
“The second goal was a really well-worked set piece, which is something we have been working on lately, so that was great to see. The third and fourth goals were great team goals. I felt we were in total control and were comfortable in the end.”
Jerry Yates became the first Blackpool man to hit 20 goals for the season since 2007 following his two goals in the victory, and Critchley was full of praise for the frontman in particular.
“After the tough start to the season he had, Jerry’s record has been outstanding. To get to 20 goals at this stage of the season is a great record.
“I expect him to score given the confidence he has at the moment. Both his goals were proper strikers goals, and we’re all delighted for him.”
