Jerry Yates was pleased keep up his goalscoring form and to be closing in on the 20 goal mark for the season.
The Seasiders frontman sored his 18th goal of the season in Good Friday’s 2-0 win at former Club Swindon Town, and was delighted to add another goal to his tally.
“It’s great to add another goal to my record for the season, but to more importantly pick up another three points,” Yates said.
“At first I thought I was offside, but Elliot Embleton shouted at me to keep going, and he was right to do so. The ball wouldn’t settle, so it was quite a tricky finish. Sometimes it’s easier to round the goalkeeper and slot the ball into an empty net and that’s what I decided to do and it paid off.
“It’s another goal to add to the tally and I’m confident in my ability to reach the 20 goal mark, which would be a good achievement.”
Yates also praised team mate Elliot Embleton, who helped set up his goal at the County Ground.
“Elliot is perfect to work with,” Yates said.
“He’s playing very well at the minute and he’s a technical player who can find a pass and is good on the ball. He covers a lot of distance and he’s great to work with, as are all of the boys in the squad.”
