Chris Maxwell is hoping Blackpool can build on recent performances in a busy period for the side over the coming weeks.
The Seasiders have eight matches contest with throughout February, including difficult away trips to the likes of Ipswich, Portsmouth and Charlton. With Blackpool going into Tuesday night’s fixture against Northampton on the back of a 5-0 victory at Wigan Athletic last week, the Blackpool captain is looking for the side to build momentum in the coming weeks.
“We’ve performed well in recent weeks, particularly given how much our squad has been stretched lately,” Maxwell said.
“The match at Brighton was as we expected. We were tested as a group and as individuals in the match, but I think we all did very well and ultimately missed out by a deflected goal on taking another Premier League side into extra-time.
“We all aspire to play at the highest level, and I think we can be pleased of our performance against a very strong opponent.
“Another strong performance followed, in the 5-0 victory at Wigan on Tuesday,” Maxwell continued.
“I think that was a wonderful display from the side, particularly given how stretched the squad was. To go there, score five goals and keep a clean sheet is a real testament to the team and all of the players we have here.
“We want to take that confidence and belief we have gained from the Wigan match in particular, and build on that in the coming weeks, which will be a real test for us”
