Kevin Stewart felt Blackpool became stronger as the match went on and were deserved winners in the victory over Portsmouth.
The Seasiders battled hard for 90 minutes at Fratton Park, and were rewarded for their efforts thanks to Jerry Yates 11th goal of the season in the final ten minutes to secure all three points.
“I think we felt quite comfortable throughout, but became stronger as the game went on,” Stewart said.
“The longer we held Portsmouth at bay, I think that gave us a lift. We had chances of our own, but Jerry Yates did so well towards the end to produce that bit of magic that won us the game.
“We won our battles well in defence and in midfield, and I think we can be happy with our overall performance and another victory to add to our tally.”
Reflecting on another clean sheet for the side, Stewart paid particular tribute to Blackpool’s backine.
“Since I’ve joined the Club, the defence has been amazing,” he said.
“They’ve kept their shape really well and limited lots of sides to few chances. I think it’s really impressive, particularly given the changes we have had to make in defence at times, given recent injuries we have had in the squad.
“We can be pleased with our results of late, and now we need to continue that going forward over what is going to be a busy period.”
