Matty Virtue felt his goal at Charlton on Saturday was one of the better ones he has scored for Blackpool.
The midfielder made it 2-0 just before half-time at the Valley with a curling effort from 25 yards out, and was pleased to get back on the scoresheet for the Seasiders.
“It was definitely up there as one of my best strikes,” Virtue said.
“Ellis Simms did well to feed me in, and I’ve just turned and hit it and it’s gone in. Wherever the Head Coach wants me to play, I’ll play, but it was good to be back in midfield for the game.
“When I get picked to play in my preferred position, I feel I need to repay the coaching staff’s faith in me, and I feel I did that with my goal and overall performance.”
Reflecting on the performance of the team on the day, Virtue felt the side deserved the three points.
“It was a really good performance and a solid win for us,” he said.
“To come to Charlton and dominate the majority of the game from start to finish is really impressive. We kept going and more than deserved the three points, which is the most important thing.”
