James Husband has admitted the side had confidence going into Saturday’s match that they could beat West Brom, and feels the side were worthy of progressing to the next round.
The defender, who played the full 120 minutes before slotting home his penalty kick, felt all of the team put in a fantastic shift to beat the Premier League side.
“It was a wonderful result. It’s a great result for the club and the team as we’ve put in so much effort over the last six months that we’ve been together,” he said.
“We knew we could win the game, but there was no expectation for us to win as they were the Premier League team. When it does go to penalties, it feels like a much better victory at times, because of the drama and intensity of penalty shootouts.
“I feel we were more than worthy of the victory and we’ll see who we get in the fourth round.”
Looking ahead to Monday’s draw, the 27-year-old has one team in mind on who he wants.
“As a Leeds lad, to get them at Elland Road would be fantastic,” Husband said.
“The only down side to all of this is that there are no fans with us to sample it. If we do get a big Club in the fourth round, that will be bitter sweet, but we know they’ll all be watching and cheering us on from home.”
