Blackpool begin 2021 in the South West, with a trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Neil Critchley’s men will be looking for a swift reaction to Tuesday’s narrow loss at Shrewsbury Town, as they search for another three points on the road this season. The Seasiders come into the game in 12th place, five points outside of the play-off positions. CJ Hamilton remains side-lined for the match, as do Chris Maxwell and Matty Virtue.
As for Saturday’s hosts, Paul Tisdale’s side lie in 21st position coming into the match. Since his arrival to the Memorial Stadium in November, Tisdale has seen an up-turn in form, winning two of the last three league matches.
Last Time We Met:
Bristol Rovers snatched all three points in the Seasiders last visit to the Memorial Stadium in a 2-1 defeat back in February 2020 in what was David Dunn’s first match as caretaker manager.
Gary Madine gave Blackpool an early lead before second half goals from Alfie Kilgour and Josh Ginnelly secured the win for the hosts.
The Key Player: Brandon Hanlan
23-year-old Brandon Hanlan is Bristol Rovers top scorer at this stage, finding the back of the net seven times in all competitions.
A brace in Rovers 4-2 victory at AFC Wimbledon last month is the last time the former Gillingham man scored.
“After the disappointing result on Tuesday, it’s good to have this game come around quickly. Bristol Rovers have had a disruptive past few weeks, but have a new manager who recently joined them, so it won’t be easy. We have to concentrate on ourselves and what we need to improve on from Tuesday night.”
“I think ourselves and Blackpool are in the same boat, in terms of their past few weeks have been disrupted because of the pandemic. It’s all about how we adapt to the ever-changing situation that will determine how successful we will be this season.”
