Neil Critchley has provided an update on both Dan Grétarsson and Gary Madine, as the pair continue their recovery from injury.
The pair haven’t featured for the Seasiders since January, but have now begun their rehabilitation to return to first-team action.
“Dan Gretarsson has been back in training for a week now,” Critchley said.
“We have to make sure we give him the right level of training, because a lot of the players are currently playing, resting, preparing and then playing again, such is the busy schedule we currently face.
“We have to make sure Daniel gets the right amount of training from a physical point of view and also individually to make sure he is ready if and when he is called upon. He’s had no ill effects since he’s been back in training, so he could get an opportunity to play soon.
“Gary Madine is taking a little bit longer than we hoped he would in his recovery. One day he feels ok, and the next he feels something, so we have to be cautious with him. We’re governed by Gary as well as the medical advice. He is an experienced player and knows his body better than anyone.
“Gary is a big help in and around the dressing room and on matchdays. He’s as frustrated as anyone at not being involved lately. We wany him back as soon as he’s ready, but at the moment, he’s not quite there.”
