Blackpool welcome Plymouth Argyle to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, looking to record back-to-back home wins and go 11 games unbeaten.
The Seasiders secured a thrilling three points in mid-week in a 3-1 victory over high-flying Peterborough to jump into the play-off spots with 12 games to go. A Jerry Yates brace and a wonderful Luke Garbutt strike ensured Neil Critchley’s side took the victory in an impressive performance under the lights and end a record of four straight home draws.
Plymouth head to Bloomfield Road on the back of a difficult run of form which saw the Pilgrims lose five straight league games in the month of March. An impressive bounce-back victory over Bristol Rovers last time out ensured Ryan Lowe’s side got back to winning ways.
Blackpool come into Saturday’s game in sixth position on 56 points, with Plymouth in 16th on 48.
Elliot Embleton and Jerry Yates should be fine for Saturday’s game after picking up cramp and a slight dead leg from Tuesday night’s win. The squad is likely to be similar to that from the previous game.
Last Time We Met:
Plymouth secured all three points on the oening day of the season back in September in a 1-0 win. Luke Jephcott’s strike on three minutes was enough for the Pilgrims to take all three points, despite Blackpool’s countless opportunities on goal.
The Key Player: Luke Jephcott
21-year-old Luke Jephcott has an impressive 18 goals to his name already this season. The striker came through the ranks at Plymouth, and has gone to represent his national side, Wales, at U19 and U21 level.
“I think we were impressive in the game at their place and that result typified the start to the season we had where we didn’t get the results our performances merited. Plymouth have a good team and some good players, so we’re expecting a tough battle on Saturday.”
