Kevin Stewart is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with the ankle injury he sustained against Fleetwood Town, Head Coach Neil Critchley has confirmed.
The midfielder, who signed for the Seasiders in January, will now be absent for a ‘number of weeks’ after discovering the extent of the problem.
“He’s got what you call a syndesmosis injury,” Critchley explained. “That’s quite bad and it’s a big loss because he’s been brilliant for us, Kev.
“He’s been a top player since he’s been at the club, both on and off the pitch. It was an unfortunate incident and it happens.
“Injuries are part of the game and it will now give somebody else an opportunity.”
