Blackpool secured their place in the play-off places, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers.
Ellis Simms was the hero on the night, with a goal either side of half-time securing a professional and comprehensive performance..
The Seasiders were looking to cement their authority on the game in the opening stages. Jordan Gabriel was having fun on the right hand side, getting to the byline on several occasions but just not having the desired delivery to find a team mate in the box.
Blackpool’s early dominance paid off on 19 minutes. A ball forward found Ellis Simms, who timed his run to perfection, and was clean through. The Everton loanee placed his shot at goal, which Louis Jones flicked with his leg in an effort to make a save, but the ball lopped high and bundled into the goal to give the Seasiders the lead.
Chris Maxwell was then forced to rush out of his goal and make a save moments later, with some claims the Blackpool goalkeeper handled the ball on the edge of the area, but the referee gave nothing.

Ellis Simms thought he grabbed his and Blackpool’s second of the match five minutes into the second half, after Dan Ballard’s sliding challenge fell perfectly to the on-loan Everton man.
Simms, under pressure from the defender, cut inside in the area onto his left foot, and worked the space to unleash a curling effort at goal, but Joe Wright was there to head the ball away which was going in.
On the hour mark, Jerry Yates threaded through Simms with a lovely pass. Simms took a first-time effort at goal from a tight angle, but the goalkeeper was there to block it away.
Chris Maxwell was forced into a big save on 70 minutes, after a great ball in found the oncoming Josh Sims at the far post. His header was heading for the top corner, but was tipped behind by Maxwell for the corner, which came to nothing.
Ellis Simms did get his and Blackpool’s second of the game in the final ten minutes. A cross in from Garbutt on the left was collected by Simms, who’s first shot was blocked, but the second attempt fell straight to him and he simply bundled it home.
The Seasiders now welcome Bristol Rovers on the last day of the season on Sunday, before the play-offs comence.
