Anderson: A Performance We Can be Proud Of
Keshi Anderson feels the side were worthy winners on Saturday afternoon, as the Seasiders secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Anderson, who was voted the Beaverbrooks Man of the Match chosen by the match sponsors at Smiths Hire for his performance in the victory, felt the side did well to hold on to their two goal half-time lead and come out with all three points.
"We're delighted to come out of the game with the win," he said.
"Obviously the two halves are going to be different. In the first half, I felt we were the better side and deservedly took a good lead into the break. I think we probably could have had one or two more in all honesty. They came out for the second half looking to press us a bit higher and were a bit more intense. They put us under a lot of pressure towards the end, but the boys did well, stuck together and dug the result out.
"We go into every game looking to exploit any weaknesses our opponents have. We felt with the type of players both Josh Bowler and I are out wide, that we'd have a bit of joy down the flanks in one v one situations. We did well to get the ball wide in those positions in the first half, but the second half was a bit different. It was a little more compact, but we did well to come out with the win on the afternoon, which I'm sure our supporters enjoyed."
With the Seasiders now entering the second international break of the season, Anderson reflected on the side's display in the opening 11 matches of the league campaign.
"Obviously it was bit of a slow start and it took us a few matches to grab the first win, but that's to be expected when you go up to the division," he said.
"Despite us not picking up a win in our opening matches, we felt quite unlucky as our performances were there in the vast majority of games. To go into this international break having now won four of the last six matches shows what kind of a team we are. We dig deep for each other, we work hard for each other and I think that in itself will keep us going a long way this season, as well as the ability we have within the group."
