Blackpool Complete Permanent Signing of Owen Dale

Blackpool Football Club can confirm that a fee has been agreed with Crewe Alexandra for the permanent transfer of Owen Dale.

The 23-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan with the Seasiders, has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract at Bloomfield Road, which includes an option for a further 12 months.

During his initial period at Blackpool, the winger has made seven appearances and found the back of the net in a 3-2 victory at Reading in October.

Crewe’s Player and Players’ Player of the Year in the 2020/21 season, he leaves the Mornflake Stadium having featured 109 times for the Railwaymen.

On signing permanently, Owen Dale said:

“I’m happy to now be here as a permanent player and I’m ready to really crack on. This will give me a lot more freedom. I’ve done fine so far, but there’s definitely a lot more to come from me and I can now kick on and show that. In football you always want to gain some momentum, and that’s something I’ve not quite been able to do yet. Now I can get that momentum, help the team and show what I’m here to do.”

Neil Critchley added:

“It was always our plan to bring Owen here permanently, and I’m delighted that we’ve come to an agreement with Crewe. This permanent move will settle him down and hopefully we’ll see the benefits of that. He’ll be full of confidence and we’ll get to see the best of him. He’s a player who plays off instinct and I believe his best years are still to come.”
