Carey: We Played Some Lovely Stuff
Sonny Carey felt Blackpool showed exactly what they're about in Wednesday night's impressive 3-2 win at Reading.
The Seasiders found themselves two goals down at the break in Berkshire, but an utterly dominant second half performance saw the side score three goals to go on and snatch all three points.
Carey, who impressed in the number ten role on his first Championship start, was thrilled to grab all three points in such enthralling fashion.
"We're all delighted with last night's result and performance," he said.
"On a personal note, to get my first start in the Championship was a special moment for me and it was even better that we got the three points. As a team we always believe we can get three points, and even when we were 2-0 down last night, we felt we were in control.
"The gaffer said to us at half-time that if we got that next goal, then anything could happen, and I think we proved on the night just how strong a side we can be at this level.
"We played some lovely stuff at times. From back to front, all eleven players played their part and the substitutes who came on made important impacts too. We always felt like we were going to score on the night, and I think as a team we can be proud of the performance."
Next up for Carey and his team mates is the eagerly anticipated derby with Preston North End on Saturday, and the 20-year-old is hopeful the side can take a lot of confidence going into what will be an intense match.
"For us to go to Reading, who have won five of their last six matches, and put in a performance like that is huge for our belief and confidence going into Saturday," Carey said.
"It will be a great match on Saturday, and it's one we're all looking forward to. The supporters have been amazing this season, and I'm sure they'll be the same at the weekend and backing us to get over that line and hopefully get what would be a big three points for us."
