Critchley: A Good Test

Neil Critchley was left pleased with his side’s efforts in the 1-0 win at Carlisle United.

The Seasiders made it two wins from three in pre-season thanks to Demetri Mitchell’s first-half strike, and Blackpool’s Head Coach was happy to get further game-time in the player’s legs.

“I was really pleased. I thought for the first 65 minutes we controlled a lot of the play and built well from the back. We controlled our build-up play and pressed well in the final third, but were at times probably a little bit wasteful with the final ball.

“We scored a good counter-attacking goal through Demetri Mitchell, who has impressed recently. He ended the season well and has begun this season in great form.

“We made a lot changes on 65 minutes and the team become a lot younger. We had to do a lot of defending, but that was a good test. We were asked a lot of questions, and the players will learn a lot from that.

“Overall, it was nice to get the win and the clean sheet, and we can now look forward to Tuesday against Burnley.”
