Critchley: A Really Good Day For Us
Neil Critchley was full of praise for his players, as Blackpool picked up another three points in their victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Goals from Shayne Lavery and Jerry Yates ensured the side made it four games unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship, and the Blackpool Head Coach was delighted with his side's character and resilience throughout.
"I thought we were fantastic in the first half and played some wonderful football," he said.
"We were deservedly winning at half-time. We spoke before hand about being at home and wanting to get the crowd behind us early on. I thought we did that. We started on the front foot and scored early and scored a fantastic second goal. We had them wobbling a bit and I thought we may have gone on to get a third, but Shayne coming off early as well as Richard changed things slightly.
"In the second half we had to deal with a fair bit of disruption with the changes. They score the third goal and then they gain momentum. We had to defend in our numbers and defend we did. I've got nothing but good words to say about the players. It was an unbelievable atmosphere in a derby match where we've won three points. It's a really good day for us."
"I'm excited to see where we can go this season. We've got a strong squad, and there's lots more to come."
Jerry Yates grabbed his first home goal of the season in the victory, and Critchley was delighted for him to get back on the scoresheet.
"Jerry's a great professional and a great person to work with," he said.
"He's been naturally disappointed to not play and not be in the team lately because he loves football. His reaction to not being in the team has been outstanding. He comes in with a smile on his face, works harder than ever and wants to improve and get better. I'm delighted he's been able to get that goal today. That's the rewards for his hard work lately."
