Critchley: A Satisfying Day
Neil Critchley was delighted to see his side pick up another three points, in the 1-0 win over Barnsley.
Shayne Lavery's strike was the difference in an entertaining match, but the Blackpool Head Coach believed his side could have added to the scoreline.
"I think over the 90 minutes, it was a deserved victory. I thought we were excellent in the first half and it should have been more than 1-0 in all honesty.
"You always know when it is 1-0, the opposition can throw men forward and take a risk towards the end to get back into the game. I thought we dealt with the pressure towards the end very well and overall were quite comfortable throughout.
"It was quite frantic at times. We knew it was going to be a first ball, second ball game and we were going to have to fight the fight against them. You've got to have the presence of mind and composure to play you game, and I thought we did that very well in the first half. We created some good opportunities down the side of the pitch and got behind them and we should've really put the game to bed early on ideally.
"But, to keep a clean sheet with back-to-back wins as well is fantastic. It was a really satisfying day."
Critchley was full of praise for the match-winner Shayne Lavery, who scored the crucial goal in the victory with his sixth goal of the season.
"I thought Shayne's overall performance was fantastic. He could have scored earlier on as well, but he had several chance throughout the match. He's always in those right positions, and he anticipates the move of the ball so well.
"Shayne's a real handful for players in this division, and he did really well today, as did the whole team. It was a big three points for us."
