Critchley: A Special Day For Us
Neil Critchley heaped praise on his players, following the Seasiders 1-0 victory over Fulham.
Josh Bowler's second half strike was enough for the Seasiders to pick up their first win of the season, and Blackpool's Head Coach felt his side were worthy of the win.
"The message before the game was that Fulham haven't lost yet, but they will do at some point. We hadn't won, but we knew we would at some point so why not today? We tried to be aggressive and on the front foot from the first whistle, and I felt that we started the game really well. That helped get the supporters behind us, and the belief within the team grew from there on in.
"No matter who our opponent is, whether it's home or away, we want to try and take the game to the opposition. We'd watched Fulham play, and we decided that the best way to try and beat them was to go at them. If you sit back against them and allow them to have possession, then you can get punished. They've got good players and have scored a lot of goals already this season.
"We didn't do any of that. We tried to be aggressive and on the front foot and won the ball back quickly a lot of the time. The performance had everything. It was a great goal and we had to defend well at the end as well to hold on to the three points.
"I'm delighted to give the supporters three points and for them to go home happy. It's a special day for us."
