Critchley: That Was For The Fans
Neil Critchley felt his side were worthy of the win over bitter rivals Preston North End.
The Seasiders secured a comfortable 2-0 win in front of a packed out Bloomfield Road, and the Blackpool Head Coach reflected on his side's performance to make it back-to-back wins.
"It was a great occasion and a wonderful atmosphere," he said.
"I thought we started the game impressively and did well in the first half. We got a bit of fortune with the first goal, and then had to withstand a bit of pressure in the second half, but defended the goal really well and scored a fantastic second goal. It's obviously a big three points against your big rivals, and these kind of games are all about the supporters, so that win was for them.
"The second goal came at a crucial time. We said at the time on the touchline that if we can keep our composure and start to play a bit more football, then we'd be able to get the second goal. I felt even though they started the second half well, we were quite comfortable throughout.
"It was a big moment for Gary Madine to get back on the scoresheet. He's such an important member of our squad and a big influence in the dressing room. He's got really good ability. He brought it down and played it to Jerry. It's a great piece of skill from Jerry to slot him back in, and Gary's finish was fantastic. That made us comfortable towards the end and it was a great performance.
"Overall it's a great day for us and the supporters can go home and celebrate tonight."
