Critchley: We're Continuing To Improve Week On Week

Neil Critchley felt his side showed they are side that is continuing to improve in their impressive 1-0 win at Sheffield United.

Keshi Anderson's second half strike secured all three points for Blackpool, and made it three straight league wins to take the side into the Championship play-offs. Reflecting on the performance, Critchley felt his side dug deep and showed great character to secure the win.

"We played a good team today. In preparation for the game, myself and the staff chatted and I said I felt this was going to be the toughest game we played so far this season. The way they play, the positions they take up on the pitch and how they play causes you real problems. We rode our luck a bit at times. Dan Grimshaw made a wonderful save, they hit the crossbar, they missed a good chance in the first half, so it proves it's all about fine lines at times.

"We scored a magnificent goal to win the game, and after that I think we were quite comfortable. It may have looked like a long punt at goal, but we said before the game that playing that long ball could work in our favour. They push up and play a high line, so if we got the timing of the run right and right delivery, then we could get in behind them and that's what's happened.

"Keshi showed great technique with his touch and he's cut back inside and unleashed a wonderful strike into the top corner and it was a goal worthy to win the match.

"We may be surprising people with our results, but the performances and results over recent weeks haven't come as a surprise to myself or the staff. I know the type of characters we have in the dressing room, and I made that clear in the dressing room at the end. When you've got a type of group like we do, they always listen and learn and want to improve. We've got good organisation and are improving and when you've got a group like that, you can achieve good things."

Finally, the Head Coach reflected on what was another eye-catching away following.

"We said before the game, that they were creating a wonderful atmosphere. We said it would be great to score at that end and they all went bonkers when they did. To come here and win is a special day for us and the supporters."
