Dujon Sterling Arrives On Loan
Blackpool Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Dujon Sterling on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The right-back, 21, has represented England at various youth levels and gained previous league experience on loan to Coventry City and Wigan Athletic.
Part of the England Under-19 squad that won the UEFA European Championship in 2017, Sterling was named in the Team of the Tournament, having achieved the same accolade at Under-17 level.
A three-time FA Youth Cup winner during his time at Stamford Bridge, he has made one senior appearance for the first-team and recently featured in a number of pre-season fixtures for Thomas Tuchel’s Champions League winning squad.
On moving to Blackpool, Dujon Sterling said:
“I knew there was interest a couple of weeks ago and I am happy to be here now. I feel in the best shape of my life, and this is the test that I need. The gaffer has put his trust in me and hopefully I can repay that trust.”
Neil Critchley added:
“Dujon has developed through a very successful Chelsea academy and won numerous cups and titles. He’s an attack-minded full-back who is certainly ready for this move, having had previous senior loan experience with Coventry and Wigan. I know our supporters will enjoy watching him play.
“He’s performed well for the Chelsea first-team squad in pre-season, and I’d like to thank Chelsea for entrusting us with his continued development.”
