Keogh: These Matches Can Be The Difference

Richard Keogh felt the side showed their character and togetherness in abundance in Saturday's win at Sheffield United.

The Seasiders secured all three points to climb into sixth spot in the Sky Bet Championship, thanks to Keshi Anderson's second half strike after some wonderful defending throughout the 90 minutes at Bramall Lane to keep the hosts at bay.

Keogh, who has formed an outstanding partnership with Marvin Ekpiteta in recent weeks, admits Saturday's result could be one the side look back on as a stand-out victory at the end of the season.

"Everyone in this side works so hard for each other, and you can see that on the pitch," he said.

"There aren't any egos in the group. We go into every game with a clear game plan and look for little areas we can maybe hurt the opposition, and over the past few weeks, that has worked really well.

"I said to the lads after the game that these are the matches that can make the difference at the end of the season. Getting results at places like this, where you grind out results on the pitch, prove that you are a strong group of players and all work together and are on the same path are great assets to have. Of course, we rode our luck at times as they're a side with many players who have recently played in the Premier League, but we defended the box well when we needed to and I think overall it was a solid, professional performance from everyone.

"Huge credit needs to go the owner and to the gaffer. I remember playing against Blackpool a few years ago and the difference at the Club between then and now is chalk and cheese. Everyone's buying into the journey we're going on here, and the supporters were once again magnificent and really pushed us on.

"To play a part in this journey and play with this group is great to be involved in. It's infectious, and we're in a really good moment here. We'll continue to keep our feet firmly on the ground though, and take it one game at a time, starting with Stoke on Wednesday."
