Pre-Season Report: Blackpool 0 Burnley 1
Blackpool suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Premier Leaguer outfit Burnley, as preparations for the upcoming Championship season intensified.
Young Burnley man Bobby Thomas scored the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time, as the Seasiders battled well for long periods of the match.
Chris Maxwell was forced into a save early on, after Lewis Richardson's powerful effort on goal. However, Maxwell was able to beat it away and out for a corner kick.
On 20 minutes, Richardson was given a golden opportunity on goal. Jay Rodriguez beat James husband to a second ball and was able to make his way to the byline to feed a cross to the unmarked Richardson, but the youngster fluffed his lines and saw his effort go wide.
Burnley were proving their Premier League class, and were creating a fair few chances. Dwight McNeil found the space on the edge of the area to unleash a powerful effort, but saw his effort go high into the stands.
Blackpool's best opportunity of the half fell to Jerry Yates on the half-hour mark. Some impressive link-up play between Yates and Hamilton allowed Hamilton the space out wide to find a cross to his team mate. The striker was entirely unmarked and hit the ball first-time, but his effort was hit low at Wayne Hennessey, who blocked the ball and eventually claimed it.
Demetri Mitchell stung the palms of Wayne Hennessey with a wonderful curling effort in the last five minutes, whilst Jerry Yates had another effort on goal with a first-time strike which he saw go over the goal.
Blackpool more than matched their Premier League opponents as the half wore on and went into the half time break with the scores goalless.

Blackpool looked lively when they came out for the second half, with Sonny Carey having a good opportunity just after the first five minutes.
The midfielder played the ball wide to CJ Hamilton, who played the ball into the box to Carey, but his effort went over.
At the other end, Ashley Barnes thought he'd found a decisive goal with his well-timed finish which he slipped past Chris Maxwell, but the forward was adjudged to be offside and the goal was ruled out.
On 65 minutes, Neil Critchley made nine changes, with the likes of Daniel Grimshaw, Oliver Casey and Reece James coming on for their first appearance at Bloomfield Road.
With 15 minutes to go, James Husband made a perfectly-timed sliding challenge in the box on Ashley Barnes just before he was about to strike on goal.
The ball, which went out for a corner kick from Husband's challenge, was then headed in at the back post from the visitors Bobby Thompson, who's powerful effort went past Grimshaw and into the top corner to give Burnley the lead, and ultimately a late victory with one match of pre-season to go.
