Pre-Season Report: Morecambe 1 Blackpool 1

Blackpool played out a 1-1 draw at Morecambe, in another good pre-season workout for the side.

CJ Hamilton's secondhalf equalsier cancelled out Wesley McDonald's first-half strike, with the Seasiders put to the test.

The first chance for Pool came on 15 minutes through Demetri Mitchell. The winger burst down the right-hand side, cut in on his left and fired a shot at goal, but it was well held by Kyle Letheren in goal.

The hosts were holding their own in the first-half, and took the lead on 23 minutes. Ex-Bolton man Arthur Gnahoua fed in a low cross from the right to find Wesley McDonald who smashed it first time into the roof of the net.

The Seasiders were pushing for a response, but were limited to half chances. Jerry Yates collected a pass from Richard Keogh, turned at goal and had an effort, but it went over the goal, and the Seasiders went in to the break behind.

Half-time: Morecambe 1 Blackpool 0

Blackpool made two early changes in the first-half, with Marvin Ekpiteta brought on for James husband. Demetri Mitchell was then forced off with an injury five minutes later, and he was replaced by Josh Bowler.

It was Bowler who made an immediate impact and who created the equaliser minutes later. A pass forward released Keshi Anderson, who's shot at goal hit the underside of the bar and bounced clear. A goalmouth scramble followed, with CJ Hamilton able to clean things up and steer the ball home.

Josh Bowler had an effort on goal himself tipped behind by the goalkeeper minutes later, after cutting in from the right and unleashing a curling effort at goal.

Neil Critchley made five changes just after the hour mark, and it was great link-up play between two of them, Shayne Lavery and Tyreece John-Jules, which allowed Lavery to have a first-time effort on goal, but the strike was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Despite a late flurry of chances at both ends, wioth Jonah Ayunga coming close right at the end, but for a superb block by Chris Maxwell, the match ended equal, with the score finishing 1-1.
