Preview: Barnsley (H)

Blackpool host Barnsley on Saturday afternoon, in a 3pm kick-off at Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders come into this weekend on the back of an impressive comeback victory at Middlesbrough last time out, which saw Neil Critchley's men climb out of the relegation zone up to 19th place after just eight league games.

That victory at the Riverside Stadium was Blackpool's second of the season, which is one more than Saturday's opponents have had so far.

Markus Schopp's side head to Lancashire having picked up just a single league victory so far this season, in a 1-0 win over Coventry last month. However, the Tykes have drawn five of their opening eight league matches.

Heading into Saturday, Barnsley sit in 18th place - one place above Blackpool on goal difference.

The Manager: Markus Schopp

Former Austrian international Markus Schopp replaced Valerian Ismael as Barnsley Head Coach in the summer. The 47-year-old has made a frustrating start to life in English football, winning just one of their opening eight league matches, however the Tykes have drawn five so far this season.

Schopp has spent all of his coaching career in his native Austria up until his move to Oakwell in the summer. He has managed Sturm Graz II as well as Austrian Premier Division side TSV Hartberg, who he guided to their highest ever finish.

The Key Man: Cauley Woodrow

A striker with close to one goal in every two games played since his move to Oakwell, Cauley Woodrow has been a crucial player up front for Barnsley. Signing from Fulham in 2019, the 26-year-old has hit 51 goals in 107 league matches so far for the Tykes.
Woodrow also counts Burton Albion, Southend United and Bristol City on his list of former clubs.
