Preview: Blackburn Rovers (H)

Blackpool welcome Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon in the first meeting between the two sides since 2018.

The Seasiders could make it four matches unbeaten by avoiding defeat at Bloomfield Road against an in-form Rovers who have enjoyed a good start to the season. Tony Mowbray's men occupy the final play-off spot having lost just two matches so far this campaign, the most recent coming on Tuesday evening in a 3-2 defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Blackburn occupy sixth place coming into Saturday, whilst Blackpool sit in 16th.

The Manager: Tony Mowbray

Installed as Head Coach at Blackburn in February 2017, Tony Mowbray is now four years into his reign at Ewood Park. Despite suffering relegation to League One in his first season, Mowbray guided Rovers straight back to the Championship the following season, finishing in second place.

A manager with almost 20 years experience, the 57-year-old has also managed Coventry City, Celtic, Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion and Hibernian, as well as an interim spell in charge at Ipswich Town back in 2002.
Mowbray is considered a Middlesbrough legend, having made over 300 appearances for the Club as a player in the 1980’s as a hard-hitting defender.

The Key Man: Ben Brereton Diaz
22-year-old Ben Brererton Diaz has become one of Blackburn’s key players this season and sits top of the Championship scorers chart heading into this weekend. The striker, who joined Blackburn from Nottingham Forest in 2019, has nine goals to his name this season. He also has five international caps, having represented Chile through his mother. Brereton Diaz played for Chile in the 2021 Copa America, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Bolivia in June 2021.
