Preview: Luton Town (H)

Blackpool welcome Luton Town to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, in a first meeting between the two sides for two years.

The Seasiders head into the fixture on the back of a narrow defeat at Birmingham City last weekend, and currently sit 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table – six points off sixth spot.

Luton are in 15th and two points behind Blackpool. After a difficult start to the season for the Hatters, they have picked up in recent weeks, claiming impressive victories over Coventry City, Millwall and Middlesbrough. They did, however, taste defeat last time out in a 2-1 home defeat to Cardiff City.

The Manager:  Nathan Jones

Nathan Jones is in his second spell as manager at Luton Town after rejoining the Hatters in May 2020. His initial spell at Kenilworth Road started in January 2016, where he remained in charge for three years. In his first full season at Luton, Jones guided the side to the play-offs, where they ultimately lost to Blackpool in the semi-finals, but they bounced back in style the following season by winning promotion in 2017-18. An impressive start to life in League One in 2018-19, saw Jones leave Luton to take charge at Championship side Stoke City. A less than impressive spell at the Britannia Stadium followed, before Jones returned to Luton 18 months later.

The Key Man: Harry Cornick

Having risen through the ranks from non-league up to the Championship, Harry Cornick is one of a number of Luton players who have been with the Club for a number of years. Having originally signed for the Hatters from AFC Bournemouth in 2017, Cornick has tasted two promotions with Luton - from League Two to the Championship - and has adapted well to life in English football’s second tier. He currently has seven goals to his name this season, scoring braces against Millwall and Coventry.
