Report: Blackpool 0 Huddersfield Town 3

Blackpool fell to a 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening.

Second half goals from Josh Koroma, Matty Pearson and Jonathan Hogg ensured the visitors took all three points on the night.

It was a quiet start on the pitch, but lively off item as the supporters from both sides were creating a fantastic atmosphere.

Sorba Thomas had a decent chance for the visitors on 20 minutes, but saw his effort go wide of the post.

With half an hour gone, Luke Garbutt played a wonderful powerful cross in from the left which fizzed across the goal, with a Huddersfield defender there to clear it away from danger. The resulting corner was whipped in from the right hand side and came out to Kenny Dougall, who fired at goal from outside the area, but his shot was well saved by Lee Nicholls and eventually cleared away.

A late bit of pressure from Blackpool followed, with Shayne Lavery's flicked header at the near post following a corner coming close, but the sides went into the break goalless.

After a cagey opening half, both sides came out for the second half looking for an immediate impact and it was Huddersfield who took the lead on 49 minutes.

Josh Koroma won the ball on the edge of the area, turned his man and found the space to curl a shot with his right foot past the diving Chris Maxwell to give the visitors the lead.

And Huddersfield doubled their lead five minutes later. A corner kick was whipped into the mix and with Chris Maxwell out to claim the ball, Matty Pearson but him and the Blackpool defence to it, heading into the goal to make it 2-0.

Huddersfield were proving to be a real threat in the second half, and got their third on the hour mark. Josh Koroma cut inside from the byline and fired at goal, with his shot palmed away by Maxwell. The ball fell to Jonathan Hogg on the edge of the area, who volleyed a looping ball over everyone and into the net.

Despite some late changes, with Gary Madine coming on late as a substitute for his first appearance of the season, it was Huddersfield who claimed the win.
