Report: Blackpool 0 Stoke City 1

Blackpool fell to a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City to end their run of consecutive league victories.

Steven Fletcher's second half strike was enough for the visitors to snatch all three points at a cold Bloomfield Road.

It was an end-to-end start at Bloomfield Road, with both sides having early efforts on goal. Sonny Carey 's early effort inside the box was blocked after a good cross on the right from Demetri Mitchell, with his follow up shot hitting the side netting.

At the other end, Joe Allen tried his luck from distance, but saw his effort charged down by a resolute Blackpool defence.

Jerry Yates also had an effort for Blackpool hit the side netting early on, after a perfectLy timed run, but it went wide of the mark.

Richard Keogh was forced off early on after succumbing to a knock following a challenge, with Luke Garbutt brought on as his replacement, meaning James Husband switched to centre-back alongside Marvin Ekpiteta.

In a physical first-half, Stoke ended the first period with five yellow cards, whilst neither side filed to break down the defence, with he sides going

As the second half progressed, Stoke were looking to impose themselves on the match and dictate the play. Steven Fletcher and Jason Brown both had half chances, with the latter proving a handful for the Blackpool defence.

Gary Madine was brought on midway through the second half to replace Jerry Yates in an effort to change the game. Madine almost made an impact minutes after coming on, jumping on to a Demetri Mitchell flick on, but when he was clean through, the linesman raised his flag for offside.

With just over ten minutes left, Stoke grabbed their goal. A ball into the box from the right was flicked on and smacked against the far post, only for Steven Fletcher to be in the path of the rebound to bundle the ball home.

Despite Blackpool's best efforts, they couldn't break Stoke down and were forced to play the final few minutes of the match with ten men, after Luke Garbutt came off injured with the Seasiders having used all three of their substitutes.

The defeat ended Blackpool's winning streak, as Stoke were able to hang on to all three points.
