Report: Blackpool 2 Blackburn Rovers 1

Blackpool dug deep to hold on to a two goal lead at half-time and secure a big three points in a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Goals from Shayne Lavery and Jerry Yates secured the win, with Ben Brereton Diaz scoring a consolation for Rovers early in the second half.

The Seasiders took the lead in front of a booming Bloomfield Road after just four minutes, with Shayne Lavery collecting his third goal in as many games.

The striker collected the ball on the left, cut onto his right and then back onto his left. He shot to find the far corner, with the ball taking a major deflection and looping over Kaminski in the Rovers goal to give Blackpool an early lead.

Despite his early strike, it was a short afternoon's work for Lavery, who went down injured on 20 minutes and was replaced by Jerry Yates.

In what was a stunning introduction, Yates himself found the back of the net three minutes after being on the pitch. A cross met the head off Gary Madine who's effort at goal was blocked, before Yates was there to bundle the ball home from close range to give Blackpool a 2-0 lead after just 24 minutes.

At the other end, Tyrhys Dolan was impressing for the visitors ands did well to reach the byline on the right and drill a low cross in, but none was there to poke it away, and the Seasiders took a deserved two goal lead into the interval.

Blackpool made a second change of the afternoon's at half-time, with James Husband on to replace Richard Keogh.

It was five minutes into the restart where Blackburn pulled one back. A cross from the right was met by Ben Brereton Diaz at the back post, who fired the ball into the goal with a first time finish on the half volley.

On the hour mark, Blackpool were forced into their third and final change, this time through Chris Maxwell, who seemed to go down with a knee injury. He was replaced by Stuart Moore.

Blackburn were pushing for the equaliser, with Daniel Ayala coming close with a header directly from as corner, but saw his effort go wide of the goal.

Josh Bowler then tried his luck for Blackpool, squeezing a shot at goal from just outside the area, but the effort went wide of the post.

Despite a late flurry pof chances for Blackburn, including a header which was wonderfully kept out from Stuart Moore late on, the Seasiders held on to secure the win and make it four games unbeaten.
