Report: Blackpool 2 Preston North End 0
It was Derby Day Delight for Blackpool, who secured a memorable 2-0 win over Preston at Bloomfield Road.
Goals from Keshi Anderson and Gary Madine either side of half-time ensured Blackpool took the bragging rights over their bitter rivals and climb up to 11th in the Championship table.
Kenny Dougall tried his luck from range on ten minutes with a first-time strike from outside the penalty area, but the effort went just wide of Dan Iversen's goal.
In a bouncing Bloomfield Road, Preston found themselves through on goal on 23 minutes, with Marvin Ekpiteta going in for a crucial block just before Daniel Johnson could unleash a shot at goal.
Just before the half hour mark, the Seasiders took the lead through Keshi Anderson. James Husband did incredibly well down the left-hand-side to control the ball and fire in a cross to Keshi Anderson, who was able to calmly slot the ball to the near post, which bundled over the line. The Seasiders deservedly led and Bloomfield Road was a cauldron of noise.
Blackpool were the better side, and having much of the ball. Richard Keogh, who was forming a solid partnership with Marvin Ekpiteta at the back, saw his header go over the bar from Josh Bowler's cross five minutes before half-time. That was the last chance of the half, and Blackpool led the derby at the break.

The second half began in rapid fashion, with Blackpool's claims for a penalty waived away by the referee in the opening two minutes. A quick counter-attack saw Josh Bowler play in Keshi Anderson, who was brought down in the penalty area, but the referee deemed the player to have taken the ball and nothing was given.
Moments later, Preston had a counter-attack of their own, which saw Ben Whiteman played in and with the goal gaping, the midfielder slid the ball wide of the goal.
Blackpool were soaking up pressure in the second half, and defending superbly. That resilience at the back paid dividends, as the Seasiders doubled the lead on 70 minutes through Gary Madine's first of the season. Some wonderful play from Jerry Yates to hold the ball up allowed the frontman to thread the ball through to Gary Madine, who bundled the ball into the net and give Blackpool a 2-0 lead.
At the other end, Sean Maguire had a half chance on the turn from just inside the area, but saw his effort go wide of the goal.
It was Blackpool's day though, and the Seasiders secured a memorable victory over their bitter rivals for the first time since 2009.
