Yates: Pleased To Score But It's About The Team

Jerry Yates admits the team were frustrated to walk away from Saturday's match with nothing to show for their efforts in a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Despite scoring his second goal in as many matches, Yates and his team mates fell to a defeat at the City Ground for their first loss in five matches, and the striker admits the side were dissapointed to not get anything from the game.

"The lads are disappointed as we felt we could have taken the game to them on the day," he said.

"We grew into the game in the first half and for the last 15 minutes or so, I think we controlled it. It was a bit sloppy at times, but after we got the equaliser I thought we were well in the game.

"I think at times as a group we need to believe in ourselves a bit more. We had some great results before the international break, and that should give us the belief going forward.

"Nottingham Forest are a good team in good form, and they utilised their players strengths to their advantage on the day. We can take a lot from the game going into Wednesday's match at Reading."

Despite the defeat Yates found the back of the net for his third goal of the season, and was pleased to be on the scoresheet once again.

"It's nice to get the goal after the international break. There's a lot of competition in the squad and to score for a second game running is pleasing from a personal point of view, but ultimately it's about the team.

"We'll look at what we could have done better against Nottingham Forest, and focus on those things as we go into a busy week for the side with a midweek trip to Reading."
