Youth Team Preview: Accrington Stanley (H)

Blackpool face Accrington Stanley this weekend at Myerscough in the EFL Youth Alliance.

The young Seasiders will be looking to remain unbeaten after a 1-1 draw against Rochdale last time out.

The Key-Man: Leslie Adekoya

Accrington have been on a good run of form as of late. Beating Swansea City 1-0 to reach the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, also picking up some strong results in the league, they will pose a threat. One player in the side who is a particular threat is the striker, Leslie Adekoya. The powerful forward-man has scored 16 goals in all competitions in the season so far. He is good in the air and runs with the ball well.

The Seasiders' defence will have to be on their guard to close him down, because if they do that then Adekoya will have less of a chance of influencing the game for John Miles’ side. Adekoya scored the only goal to send Accrington through in their FA Youth Cup third round tie, and he has been a clear asset to the Stanley team throughout the season so far.

Who Will Come Out On Top?

Accrington’s defence has done well to not concede too many goals this season so far, meaning Blackpool's strike force will have to be taking their chances in the game. If Accrington are allowed to play through the channels and feed Adekoya the ball and other attacking players like, Trickett and Poilly, then the visitors could have some joy.

Blackpool have been playing well of late. Before Christmas they’d lost one game in nine and the performances were more than impressive. John Murphy’s side show a lot of character and showed just last week that they can come back from behind after going 1-0 down to Rochdale early, but fighting back to claim a point. It will be an interesting game and one that if Blackpool play to their strengths, a positive performance can reap rewards.

Admission:

The game will be played at Myerscough College and is a 12.30pm kick-off, with supporters welcome to attend.
