Youth Team Report: Blackpool 0 Fleetwood Town 0
Blackpool Under-19’s were held to a 0-0 draw by Fleetwood Town on Saturday, as the young Seasiders couldn’t quite break the visiting defence.
In a match of few opportunities for either side, there were only really two clear cut chances in the game, with one offside effort from James Harrison, which could have separated the two sides.
In a cagey affair, which started very intensely, it was Fleetwood who were getting in the faces of Blackpool every time the young Seasiders tried to build an attack.
Playing in the middle, Tayt Trusty was always battling for loose balls, but it was the work of Jack Moore and Joe Strawn down the right hand-side which was causing the visitors problems in the early exchanges of the first half.
Quick build-up play is what Blackpool are good at and pressing well is something Murphy prides his team on and that was occurring early in the game.
The first real effort came just under a quarter of an hour in when Luke Mariette took a strike from just outside the penalty spot, which was in the end, a comfortable save for the Fleetwood goalkeeper.
It was clear Strawn’s runs down the line were something the Fleetwood defence were struggling to deal with, that showed when the visiting striker lunged in late on the Blackpool number seven.
Then, on the stroke of half time, it was an effort from Strawn which smashed against the crossbar, meaning the two sides went into half time level.

The second half started just as the first did, a high tempo game of football. Fleetwood were looking to dig in again and stop the Seasiders getting any luck in front of goal.
When the home side did get a chance from a counterattack, it was an effort by James Harrison, which forced a save out of the Fleetwood keeper.
Just as Murphy’s young side were getting in their groove, they did have the ball in the back of the net. Again, a strike from Harrison, however it was ruled offside.
Overall, there wasn’t much to split the two sides and the points were shared at Myerscough.
