Goals from Jake Daniels, Zack Littler, Prince Yelegon and James Harrison in the second half were crucial, as Blackpool turned on the style.
Accrington have been having a good season so far - getting through to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup has been one of their most impressive results of late.
However, it was Accrington who started the brighter of the two sides on Saturday. Despite some nice spells on the ball, the chances which came from that were not finished by Blackpool. Daniels and Johnston missed a couple of opportunities early on, as did Luke Mariette as the midfielder struck an effort narrowly wide.
The deadlock was broken in the tenth minute when poor marking from a corner led to Accrington scoring to take the lead.
Blackpool kept on trying to hit Stanley on the break and Yelegon was doing a good job on the right wing, trying to slot Daniels and Johnston through on goal.
Accrington knew the battle for them would be through the middle and they were continuing to play through that and feed the ball to their target-man up front, Leslie Adekoya.
Will Squires and Johnson Opawale did a good job in defence of closing him down. Add to that the job Kwaku Donkor was doing at right-back, the Seasiders were holding their line well.
It was never going to stay at 1-0, as Blackpool had a handful of chances, and they made it count when Daniels netted to level things up in the 16th minute.
The game was very end to end, and it didn’t take long until the third goal in the game came, and it was from the visitors, who regained their lead in the 25th minute.
Blackpool kept fighting to get themselves level for the second time, but Accrington made it 3-1 with three minutes to go until half-time from another set-piece.
On the stroke of half-time, Daniels scored his second as he collided with the goalkeeper, the ball bundled into the net, as the Seasiders reduced the arrears heading into a frantic opening 45 minutes.
Half-Time: Blackpool 2 Accrington Stanley 3
In the second half, Accrington made all three substitutions and switched up their side completely.
This gave Blackpool some flexibility to make some changes of their own. John Murphy introduced both Zack Littler and Dannen Francis in place of Luke Byron and Johnny Johnston.
The way we know the young Seasiders can play came out in the 56th minute when Littler scored a glancing header off a nicely lifted cross on a counter attack to level the scores at 3-3.
After troubling the Accrington defence when he was overlapping Francis on the left wing, Tyler Hill grew into the game and was performing very well in both attack and defence.
Yelegon who had been threatening for most the game to score a goal, did find the back of the net with a very nice finish. This gave Murphy’s side the lead for the first time in the game and it was 4-3.
As the second half went on, Daniels became more and more of an influence as he bagged his third of the game in the 73rd minute. Then, just two minutes later came the introduction of James Harrison.
With his first touch in the game, he fired the ball into the roof of the net to give Blackpool a three-goal lead and make it 6-3. Blackpool were now home and dry and in the final ten minutes, it was just about how many goals the Seasiders could score.
Daniels capped off a tremendous performance with his fourth and Blackpool’s seventh with nine minutes to go. This came after some great play by the team and ended with Daniels netting from close range.
With the visitors struggling to produce anything to really test Alec McLachlan in the second half, Blackpool turned what was a frustrating first half performance into a display of great character and creativity.
