Northampton Town visit Bloomfield Road on Saturday to take on Blackpool in Sky Bet League One, with kick-off at 3pm.
The Seasiders go into their first league match at Bloomfield Road since the end of September in a poor run of form in the league, losing to Leyton Orient last time out, but they did progress in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy midweek with a 2-2 draw against Harrogate Town.
Saturday’s opponents picked up a valuable late point against Birmingham City last time out and despite losing 5-2 on Tuesday night to Burton Albion they did also progress to the knockout stages of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
This weekend’s match is the Club’s designated Remembrance Day fixture, where we will collectively come together before kick-off to remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Opposition In Focus:
Northampton Town sit a place above the Pool in the Sky Bet League One table after 14 matchdays, with the Cobblers only above Steve Bruce’s side due to a superior goal difference.
The Cobblers are in their second season in the third tier following promotion from Sky Bet League Two in 2023. Jon Brady masterminded this success after he took permanent charge of the Cobblers in May 2021. The Australian has had quite the rise over recent years having been the Club’s Under-16 Head Coach as recently as 2016, when he was still coaching PE sessions in local schools in Northamptonshire.
After consolidating themselves in the league last term the Cobblers recruited some well-known EFL players in the summer, including Tyler Roberts, Tom Eaves and James Wilson as they looked to push on this season. Northampton have been hit with an injury crisis of late, with a reported 16 players out due to injury, making their recent run in the league, which has seen them only lose once in their last five outings, even more impressive.
